Day 11

Packed up the camp and headed 20 minutes north to Garden of the Gods.
Lots of red rock formations in the shadow of Pike's Peak. The park is
in the county park system so there Were NO admission fees!

Drove around the park and had a chance to walk on one of the main
trails. The sky was blue with clouds...perfect for photos.

Katie and Ava had a chance to climb in and among the formations.
Katie also had an opportunity to slip and fall and injure her knees.
I think all the tourists could figure out that I was from NJ with my
reaction!

After Garden of the Gods we headed north toward Ft. Collins. Drove
through a busier corridor between Colorado Springs and Denver. The
mountains became less visible, sound barriers became more numerous,
and before we all new it...it was like we were on Any random NJ highway.

Needless to say...Denver left us very underwhelmed. Big industrial
areas on the northside...and probably some stockyards given the odors!

Continued to head north toward our KOA. We had dinner plans to meet a
friend in Ft. Collins. But she had to cancel. But, we stI'll headed
into town. And we were so glad we did!

Similar to Lawrence Kansas, this town is also a college town. Very
vibrant LOTS of restaurants and shops. We had dinner at micro brewery
right in the center of town. The name of the place was Coopersmith's.
We all had a great dinner. After eating we walked around town and
bought some beautiful wall hangings and jewelry at a store that sells
the work of local artisans.

So after spending more money than we planned to, we headed back to the
KOA. Immaculate campground with one issue. It was right next to a feed
lot! The smell was not pleasant and there were flies. Good thing we
ate out!

Experienced some monster t-storms in the evening. Unlike anything we
get hit with at home.
